Ragen and McCants Lead Spartans Past Prairiewolves

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque bounced back on Saturday after a non-conference loss earlier in the week and beat the Nebraska Wesleyan University at home 76-63.

Peter Ragen led UD with 24 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Jaylin McCants came off the bench and added 17 points and collected 11 rebounds in the road win. The Spartans sank 30-69 from the floor, made 7-24 from the three point arc, and were 9-10 at the free throw line. The lead swapped 10 times and was tied another six times. UD scored inside and finished with 46 points in the paint.UD forced NWU into 13 turnovers and scored 14 points.The Spartans out rebounded NWU 42-37.

"Our guys played a great second half to win in a place where we haven't won since they joined our league," commented head coach Robbie Sieverding. "Peter Ragen was really good finishing with 24 and nine rebounds and Jaylin Mccants played well with 17 and 11 rebounds. Our guys are excited for our Florida trip next week where we will play two very good teams."

The Spartans are off until Dec. 19 when they face Baldwin Wallace University at 2 p.m. in the Ft. Lauderdale Cruizin Classic Men's Basketball Tournament. UD will play Roanoke College on Dec. 20 to finish up their 2021 season.
