DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer played an impressive opening half of play on Wednesday night in the Rock Bowl and trailed to the #13-ranked Loras College Duhawks 0-1. UD fell behind 0-2 after the Duhawks scored at the 57th minute mark. The Spartans rallied back to slice the lead to just a goal after Emma Kober curved a goal in off a corner. The Spartans gave up a late goal to lose 1-3.

In the first half, UD would play one of their best defensive halves of the year as the Spartans were looking to slow down the Duhawks, who have yet to have a loss on the season. In the second half, Loras would attack to score another goal to increase their lead to 2-0 over the Spartans. In the 74^th minute, the Spartans had a corner kick and Emma Kober would hook the ball into the back of the net for a Spartan goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Loras would use their offense again in their attacking third and would score another goal to give them a 3-1 lead.

The Spartans would end the game with only five shots on goal and three corner kicks. Karissa Chalus was in goal tonight and would have five saves to add to her season total. UD returns to Oyen Field on Saturday as they host Coe College at 3:30 p.m.
