PELLA, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team was on the road for the final time in the regular season against the Central College Dutch and it would bode well for the Spartans as they grabbed a much-needed 3-1 victory to get an automatic bid in the American Rivers Conference tournament which starts next week.
The first half would start with a lot of defense as both teams would be held scoreless through the first 30 minutes of play. The Spartans changed that narrative when
Brooke Brodzinski would shoot a ball into the goal for a 1-0 Spartan lead. The Dutch wasted no time and would even the game at 1-1 only less than a minute and a half later. The core would remain the same heading into the halftime break. The second half would be all Spartans as
Baylee Vincent would find the back of the net twice in the second half. The Spartans would give up no goals in the second half and the Spartans would take the win 3-1.
The Spartans would shoot the ball well today as six of the nine shots would be on goal. The Spartans would match the Dutch with 4 corner kicks.
Cadence Martindale had a great day in goal giving up the one goal and had three saves to give her a 7-6 record on the year.
The Spartans return home for their regular season finale against the #3 team in the United Soccer Coaches Region IX poll in UW-Lacrosse at Oyen Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
