DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team played host to the Luther College Norse Wednesday night at Oyen Field. The Norse come in at 3-3 in conference play as well as the Spartans. Both teams playing for seeding in the A-R-C tournament next week would cover each other tightly. The constant back and forth battle for 90 minutes fell in favor of the Norse as they earned a 2-0 shutout of the Spartans.
The first half would start quick for the Norse as they would take an early lead 1-0 within the first five minutes of action. The Spartans would have a few chances to even the game, but found about everything other than the back of the net. In the second half, the shots would be there for both teams and play would continue evenly for the second half. Luther scored a second goal late to give them a 2-0 advantage. UD ran out of time to do anything offensively and will travel to Pella on Saturday for a much needed win to end their regular A-R-C season.
The Spartans would have eight different players record a shot with five of them being on goal and record five corner kicks.
Cadence Martindale recorded six saves in the loss tonight. The Spartans take the road to Pella, Iowa for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff with the Central College Dutch on Saturday, October 23.
