STORM LAKE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team took a road trip this weekend to Northwest Iowa for a match-up with the Beavers of Buena Vista University. The Spartans would get many chances to shoot the ball tonight and they would take advantage as they blanketed the Beavers for a 5-0 victory.
In the first half, the Spartans were on a mission to take control of the game and would put up four goals in the first 45 minutes of play.
Emma Kober would get the first goal of the game in the 14
th minute and would score another goal six minutes later to give her two on the night. In between Kober's goals
Samantha Scodeller would score a goal off the assist from
Kailey Tyburski. Just before halftime,
Jordan Cadena would get the rebound off a missed shot and find the back of the net. The Spartans would take a commanding 4-0 lead into halftime. The Spartans were able to take 24 shots on goal in the first half.
In the second half, the Spartans would add one more goal to their lead from
Samantha Scodeller off a
Molly Schiltz pass to give her three goals on the year. The Spartans would end the second half adding 18 more shots to give them a total of 42 on the night compared to only eight for the Beavers.
Cadence Martindale and
Karissa Chalus would split duties tonight with each playing one half and combined to post the shutout victory.
The Spartans return to Oyen Field on Wednesday, October 20 for a conference match-up with the Luther College Norse starting at 7:30 p.m.
