Women's Soccer Held Scoreless by the Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team played host to the Simpson College Storm in a pivotal American Rivers Conference match-up. A Spartan victory would keep UD on top of Simpson in the standings. The Spartans would have no luck finding the goal on Tuesday night under the lights of Oyen Field and would lose a tough home loss 0-3 to the Storm.
  
In the first half, the Storm would strike first with a quick goal in the 4th minute of play. The battle would continue all the way through the first half and the score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Storm going into the halftime break. In the second half, the Spartans were only able to get a few chances to score and were unable to do so. The Storm would tally two more goals in the second half to give them the 3-0 lead and the victory.

The Spartans were able to get eight shots towards the goal tonight and four of those would be on goal, UD added six corner kicks as well. Cadence Martindale would take the loss in goal giving up three goals, but was able to grab six saves on the night.

The Spartans hit the road this Saturday, October 16 as they travel west on highway 20 to Storm Lake, Iowa against the Buena Vista University Beavers at 5:30 p.m.
