Matlyn Burst joined UD in 2015 as an athletic trainer. Her primary sport coverage includes women’s volleyball, women’s ice hockey, and men and women’s outdoor track and field.

Prior to joining the Spartan staff Matlyn worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado working with the cross country and track and field teams, as well as completed an internship in Daytona Beach, Florida working with cross country, track and field and women’s basketball at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She holds a BS in human biology-exercise science from UW-Green Bay and MS in Athletic Training. 
 
Matlyn is NATA BOC Certified and licensed by the Iowa Board of Athletic Training. She is a member of NATA and holds certification in first aid/CRP/AED. She also holds certification for Graston Technique.
 
Matlyn resides in Dubuque, Iowa with her husband, Kasey and daughter, River. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, working out, and quilting.
