Emily Ryan

Emily Ryan was brought onto the University of Dubuque women's soccer coaching staff in July 2021.

Ryan comes by way of UW-Platteville, where she was head coach of the Pioneers from 2017-2020 after being an assistant in 2016. During her tenure as the Pioneers head coach, Ryan guided the Pioneers to the program’s best season in school history in 2018, with a program high fourth place regular season finish and shattered four program records. In 19 games, the Pioneers recorded 48 goals (a 21-goal improvement from 2017), 30 assists, and five shutouts. Two Pioneers earned All-WIAC honors and one Pioneer was named United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-North Region.

“I am so grateful and excited to join the women’s soccer staff at the University of Dubuque. I want to thank Coach Berna and Dan Runkle for giving me this amazing opportunity,” commented Ryan. “The University of Dubuque has remarkable facilities and an amazing campus community. I can’t wait to help Coach Berna take Spartan women’s soccer to the next level.”

Ryan was a four-year letter winner at UW-Platteville and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology and health and human performance.

Ryan is actively involved in the Dubuque Soccer Club. She holds her USSF ‘D’ License and USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification.

“I am ecstatic that Emily is joining our UD Women’s Soccer staff. She brings a ton of experience not only to the soccer field, but with her strength and conditioning background to off season training as well. This hire will definitely move our UD Women’s program forward in the conference and region,” said head coach Jason Berna.
