PLATTEVILLE, WI - The No. 21 University of Dubuque women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 road victory over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Wednesday night (25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18). The Spartans improve to 12-2 overall this season.
The Spartans came out strong in the opening set, building a 21-9 lead before closing out a 25-17 victory. UD carried the momentum into the second set in a much closer battle. With the score tied at 18-18, the Spartans pulled ahead late and secured the set 25-23 with a Delainey Winkel kill. Platteville responded in the third set, overcoming a late Dubuque lead to take the set 25-23 and extend the match to a fourth set. The Spartans answered in the fourth and came through with a win against the Pioneers, 25-18, securing the 3-1 victory.
Winkel led the Spartans' offense with 19 kills and 13 digs.
Chloe Reiser followed with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Caitlin Jensen finished with six kills on a .375 hitting percentage and five blocks.
Halee Clare led the team with seven blocks and added six kills.
Alexis Kammerer directed the offense with 41 assists, while
Taylor Bechene led the defense with 30 digs.

The No. 21 Spartans will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, for the Transylvania Invite on Saturday, September 26. UD will open the day against host Transylvania University at 11:00 a.m., before facing No. 20 Otterbein University at 1:30 p.m.
