DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team hosted the Coe College Kohawks on Tuesday afternoon at the UD Softball Field. The Spartans would lose the doubleheader 5-3 in game one and by a 5-1 margin in game two.
The Spartans would out hit the visiting Kohawks. UD scored three runs off seven hits and committed an error in game one. All seven hits were singles and all by seven different Spartans. Coe scored five runs off six hits and played errorless.
Peyton Santore was 1-3 with a pair of RBI's and
Jamie Motley was 1-3 with an RBI.
Ashlyn Short pitched a complete seven inning game and faced 31 batters. She allowed six hts and four earned runs and struck out five in the loss.
UD scored one run off 10 hits and committed an error in game two. Coe scored five runs off 10 hits and played without an error.
Anna Luczak was 3-3 at the plate. A pair of Spartans finishing with two hits:
Megan Leick was 2-3 with a double and a run scored and
Zoe Connell was 2-3 with an RBI double.
Kadence Ondrey finished with a double as well.
Kayla Ponting would finish with a stolen base.
Ciaran Rigby took the loss on the mound after 5.2 innings, nine hits and four earned runs after 28 batters faced.
Skylar Zoeteman tossed 1.1 innings and allowed one hit after seeing six batters.
UD will host the Wartburg College Knights (22-8 overall, 7-1 in A-R-C and receiving votes in NFCA Top-25 poll) on Saturday, April 25 on the Spartans Senior Day at 1:00/3:00 p.m.
