DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's hockey team completed a sweep of Lawrence University with a 6-4 victory on Sunday afternoon. Nikita Borodaenko scored a program-record-tying four points in the contest along with a hat trick.
Lawrence started the game with a goal six minutes in. Zach Burfoot responded immediately with a game-tying goal two minutes later. Borodaenko scored five minutes later for his first goal of the evening. The Vikings tied the match and the score remained 2-2 after one period. The Vikings took the lead again but Borodaenko chipped one past the goalie for his second goal of the night halfway through the period. In the second minute of the third period, Borodaenko shot from deep and netted his third of the night, giving him the hat trick. Zach Cline scored ten minutes later and then added an empty-net goal as the Spartans won 6-4.
Borodaenko tied his own program record of four points, adding an assist on the first goal by Cline. Cline scored twice and added two assists as he also tied the program record of four points. Burfoot finished with a goal and an assist while four other Spartans finished with one assist on the night. Andon Coles had a career-high of three points, all of which were assists. Nolan Underwood led the Spartans with 14 face-off wins. In goal, Prestyn Carter made 30 saves.
