Borodaenko Records Four Points in High-Scoring Affair Against No. 4 Aurora

AURORA, Ill.  – The University of Dubuque men's hockey team battled against No. 4 Aurora University. Despite keeping the game close for all sixty minutes, Aurora pulled away and won 7-4.

Aurora jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Tyler Dale scored a power-play goal with two minutes remaining in the first period to cut the deficit to one. Aurora scored to open the second period, but Zach Burfoot found the net seven minutes into the second period, tallying his second point of the evening. Aurora led 4-2 after two periods. An Aurora empty net goal stretched their lead to 5-2, but Nikita Borodaenko and Burfoot scored in a furious comeback attempt, as UD trailed by one with two minutes remaining. Aurora scored two goals before the buzzer and ultimately won 7-4.

Borodaenko scored twice in the affair and notched two assists in the contest. Burfoot scored and added an assist while leading the Spartans with five shots. Zach Cline finished with two assists while Andon Coles received credit for an assist. Dale scored once on four shots on Friday evening. UD combined for 16 blocked shots, helping to stifle Aurora's powerful offense. In goal, Prestyn Carter made 27 saves.

UD will host No. 4 Aurora in ImOn Arena for Senior Day festivities tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. Saturday's contest will mark the end of UD's season.
