CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced junior guard
Grady Thompson (Princeton, Ill. / Princeton) was named the A-R-C Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon. Thompson helped lead the Spartans to a 2-0 week in conference play with wins over Wartburg and Nebraska Wesleyan.
Thompson played all but four minutes against Wartburg last Wednesday night, producing a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 75-63 win. The junior guard was an x-factor in the come from behind win after trailing by five at the half against the Knights and was also a perfect 9-9 on free throws. On the road at Nebraska Wesleyan over the weekend, Thompson finished with 15 points and a trio of steals with a 3-4 day at the line to seal the win for the Spartans over the previously unbeaten Prairie Wolves in conference play.
Over the last week Thompson averaged 21ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5apg, and was 12-13 at the line (92.3%).
Thompson and the Spartans will ride a two-game winning streak to Coe College when they face the Kohawks on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. from Kohawk Arena.
