Delainey Winkel was named A-R-C Female/Volleyball - Offensive Athlete of the Week after leading the Spartans volleyball team to a 4-0 opening weekend at the Central-Grinnell Invitational.
During the Spartans opening weekend of the season, Winkel played a significant role in the offense for the University of Dubuque volleyball team. The junior outside hitter racked up 48 kills in four games, averaging 12 kills per match. Per set, Winkel has started strong with a 3.20 kill average, which was a big help over a long stretch of games this weekend. One of her outstanding performances came against Calvin University where the Spartans reverse swept the Knights. Winkel recorded 15 kills in the match, after overcoming a 2-0 set deficit to win the game 3-2, taking down a team receiving votes in the national rankings. Winkel also recorded 26 digs over the four matches to help on defense, helping put the bow on a 4-0 opening weekend for the Spartans.
Winkel was also named to the Central-Grinnell Invitational All-Tournament Team.
