DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team won the doubles point after capturing 2-3 doubles matches on Saturday. The Spartans took the early lead 1-0 leading into singles play. The Knights battled and would win 5-6 singles to take the match 5-2 and handing UD their first loss of the season and evened their American Rivers Conference record to 1-1..
The #1 doubles team of
Molly Jex and
Sarah Wilde took the set 6-1. The #2 doubles team of
Adriana Benavente and
Jayda Floyd grabbed the victory and locking up the double point with a 6-3 score. Kadie Cole and
Maddie Brosnahan lost #3 doubles 6-1. Benavente was the lone singles winner after capturing #2 singles 6-1, 6-0. UD was scheduled to face the Coe College Kohawks on Saturday, but the match was postponed due to extreme heat anticipated for the afternoon, a make-up date has not been announced.
UD (5-1 overall, 1-1 in A-R-C)Â will host Saint Ambrose University on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 3:30 p.m. on Frank Farber Tennis Courts.
