DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team finished a marathon match in the dark on Tuesday evening. UD captured the one point for winning two of the three doubles matches and then battling through tie breaks and super tie-breaks in singles matches ending the afternoon in a 4-3 loss on Frank Farber Tennis Courts/Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center..
Molly Jex and
Sarah Wilde edged out the #1 doubles match 7-6 (10-5) followed by the #2 doubles team of
Adriana Benavente and
Jayda Floyd who captured their match 6-3. In singles play, Jex won her #1 singles 6-4, 4-6, and won tie break 10-5. Benavente lost #2 singles 6-4, 0-6, 3-10. The #5 and #6 singles would play into the darkness and moved under the lights of the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center to finish the pair of matches to decide the match. Maddie Brosnaham captured the #5 singles match over her former team, losing the first set 3-6, before winning the second set 7-6 and 10-7 in the tie break. The #6 singles appeared to be in
Rachel Duck's favor after she jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the first set. She would drop the second set 7-5, rallied in the second set 6-2 and lost the third set tie break 10-5.
