DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball team defeated the Augsburg University Auggies 8-4 in the Alumni Weekend series opener on Friday afternoon.
Micah O'Neal and
Tyson Dent each had three RBI's in the victory.
Augsburg put up a run in each of the first two innings to lead 2-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Spartans would explode for six runs in the inning. O'Neal hit a double to left center to score the first two runs, before
George Sherlock hit a sacrifice bunt to score O'Neal.
Two batters later, Dent would hit his first home run of the season to give the Spartans a 6-2 lead. The following at bat for O'Neal would be a triple to center field to score his third RBI of the day.
JD Schaffer hit a sacrifice fly for the eighth run of the day.
Aidan Elfering picked up his first win of the season in a complete game performance. Elfering allowed eight hits and gave up four runs. The senior pitcher struck out 11 batters in the win.
The Spartans are now back to .500 at 8-8 overall.
