APPLETON, Wis. – The University of Dubuque men's hockey team traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin to take on the Lawrence University Vikings on Friday. The Spartans got out to an early lead and led through two periods, but Lawrence answered with three goals in the third period to win 4-2 over the Spartans.
Kaden Dundas and
Nikita Borodayenko led the way for the Spartans scoring the two goals on the evening.
After no score through the first period, the Spartans quickly took the lead 42 seconds into the second period with a goal from
Kaden Dundas off assists from
Nikita Borodayenko and
Max Erstad. Dundas has now scored two goals in the last two games for the Spartans. Borodayenko then logged his eighth goal of the season with assists from Erstad and
Kelsey Ouellet to take a 2-0 lead. With his two assists, Erstad has now logged his tenth point on the season. The Vikings then scored four straight goals to finish the night to defeat the Spartans 4-2.
The Spartans had 24 shots on the night, with Erstad leading the way with five. Dundas,
Brett Morich, and
Owen Hardy all logged three shots of their own. Goalie
Chris Curr played 57:15 while making 25 saves on the night. The Spartans won 32 face-offs with
Max Messier winning 10.
The Spartans now fall to 1-18-3 on the season.
