DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's hockey team wrapped up their season on Saturday afternoon, celebrating Senior Day before taking on Aurora University at ImOn Arena. Despite a strong defensive effort through two scoreless periods, the Spartans fell 5-0 in the final game of the season.
Goaltender Savannah Wuitschick kept UD in the game early, making 25 saves through the first two periods to hold Aurora off the scoreboard. The Spartans generated 10 shots on goal, but were unable to break through offensively.
Aleah Giddings and Payton Kletke led the offensive charge with four shots each, while defensively, Ashleigh Eldridge, Chloe Byma, and Arwen Sims each recorded two blocked shots. Savannah Wuitschick finished her day with 33 total saves.
In the face off circle, Ashleigh Eldridge won a team-high nine draws, followed by Zoe Cupples with seven. The Spartans claimed 28 of the 52 total face offs in the game.
The Spartans wrap up their season, celebrating the efforts of their four seniors class (Aleah Giddings, Arwen Sims, Libby Plath, and Samantha Eldridge).
