PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team lost 65-57 at the Central College Dutch on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans made a late run, but could not overcome the early deficit.
The Spartans were outscored in the first three quarters against the Dutch and trailed by 14 points going into the fourth quarter. A fourth quarter run by the Spartans 17-8 run to open the fourth brought the Spartans to within five points, but Central free throws sealed the game for the Dutch.
Three Spartans finished in double figures as
Mia Miller led the Spartans with 17 points.
Madi Petersen finished with a 13 point, 10 rebound double double and
Kaitlyn Powell added 12 points and seven rebounds in her first start of the year.
The Dutch scored 20 points off 14 Spartans' turnovers which made a big difference in the game. There was three ties and two lead changes throughout the game.
The Spartans fall to 9-14 overall, 6-8 in conference play.
