CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team got to within a point in the early stages of the fourth quarter, but would fall to the Coe College Kohawks 68-61 in the final regular season road game of the season.
Both the Spartans and Kohawks are knotted at 14-14 after one quarter, but the Kohawks would lead by six points at the half. The Spartans trailed by their largest margin at 46-31 with 2:40 left to play in the third quarter, but three consecutive three-pointers by the Spartans to end the third quarter brought them to within six at 46-40.
To start the fourth quarter, the Spartans run continued with a layup and then another three-pointer got the Spartans to within their closest margin of 46-45. In the span of 3:16 the Spartans went on a 14-0 run. The Spartans were in the game late trailing 64-61, but four consecutive free throws by the Kohawks sealed the game.
Madi Petersen led the Spartans with 21 points and 11 rebounds for her second consecutive double double.
Isabella Tierney was a sizzling 4-5 from beyond the arc, finishing with 15 points.
Samantha McDonald scored in double figures with 12.
Mia Miller had a team-high six assists.
The Spartans fall to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in conference play.

The final regular season game of the season will be at home on Saturday as the Spartans face the Loras College Duhawks at 2:00 p.m. from the Stoltz Sports Center.
