DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team held day two of the Paxton's Pack Classic on Tuesday afternoon. In their non-conference finale, the Spartans fell to the Augustana College Vikings 83-64.
Felicity Figlinski was named to the Paxton's Pack All-Classic team with two strong performances this week.
Augie got out to a quick 5-0 lead, before the Spartans used a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 6-5. With Augie up 16-13 late in the first,
Zoe Njus would tie the game up with a three-pointer. Augie would hold the 19-18 lead after 10 minutes with a late free throw.
Augie scored the first six of the second quarter to go back up 25-18, but back-to-back scores from the Spartans brought the game to 25-22 midway through the second. With the Spartans trailing 31-24,
Grace Brumley would score the next 11 Spartans' points, including 3-3 from beyond the arc to pull the Spartans to within 36-35 with under a minute to play. Augie answered with their own three-pointer on their final possession of the first half, but Figlinski answered with a three on the other end of the floor to go in to the locker room with the Spartans trailing 39-38.
Augie would put up 31 points in the third after shooting 15-20 from the floor to expand their lead to double digits entering the final quarter, before closing out the game down the stretch.
Brumley finished with a career-high 19 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor with a perfect 3-3 from the three-point line and 4-4 at the free throw line. Figlinski finished with 13 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.
Avery Green scored in double figures with 11 in 22 minutes.
Christina Simonetti recorded her third game of the season with double digit rebounds, grabbing 11 boards.
