Brumley Scores Career-High in Loss to Beavers

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team opened up the 2026 part of their schedule hosting the Buena Vista University Beavers on Saturday afternoon at the Stoltz Sports Center. The Beavers outlasted the Spartans 73-55 to give the Spartans their first loss in conference play this season.

Grace Brumley would score the first five points of the night for the Spartans on her way to a career-high 20-point outing. Brumley shot 8-16 from the floor, including two made three-pointers. The Spartans led 11-9 with 3:16 left in the first quarter, but a 10-0 Beavers run to end the quarter gave the opposing team an eight point advantage through 10 minutes.

Felicity Figlinski would hit both of her three-pointers in the second quarter that cut the deficit back to eight (32-24), but the Beavers made a small run to go up by double digits into the halftime break.

The Spartans managed to outscore the Beavers in the fourth quarter 17-11 as 11 of the Spartans' points came from Brumley. The sophomore would make both of her three-pointers in the fourth.

Christina Simonetti finished with a 10-point, 10 rebound double-double which is her third of the season. Figlinski ended her afternoon with 13 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Avery Green added a team-high six assists.

The Spartans are now 4-8 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
