Four Spartans Score in Double Figures as Men's Basketball Routs Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team scored 108 points on Wednesday night in rout to a 108-63 road victory over the Cornell College Rams. Four Spartans scored in double figures with Grady Thompson leading the way with 28 points.

The Spartans led the entire way from the their opening offensive possession with Thompson getting his night started with a three-pointer. Holding a 23-18 lead with 9:51 left in the first half, the Spartans would hold Cornell without a made field goal for 8:08 of game clock while on a 37-6 run to blow the game wide open at 50-24. The Spartans would lead by 26 at the half.

With the game well in hand, the Spartans maintained their significant lead throughout the second half. There were 15 Spartans who entered the game on Wednesday with 14 of them getting into the scoring column.

"We got off to a good start and really moved the ball well against the zone tonight. Grady had his best game of the year and our bench did a great job scoring 42 points.  It was great to see a handful of guys in double figures tonight."

Four Spartans reached double figure scoring totals as Thompson finished one point shy of tying his career-high with 28 points on 11-18 shooting in 20 minutes. The junior was also one rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds. Jacob Williams has been in double figures every game this season, finishing tonight with 15 points, while also adding seven rebounds. Logan Sluder came off the bench for the Spartans with a career-high 12 points, while Jalen Scott added 10 points.

The Spartans as a team shot a blistering 54.2% (39-72) from the floor, made eight three-pointers, and went 22-30 at the free throw line.

The Spartans improve to 3-0 overall.
