DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's volleyball team welcomes Coe College to the Key City for the A-R-C Championship on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's contest will receive the league's automatic bid to the national tournament.
The top-seeded No. 18 Spartans enter the championship game with a 25-3 record and went a perfect 8-0 in conference play. The Spartans advanced to the championship via a five-set comeback victory over No. 4 Central on Thursday evening. The Kohawks hold a 20-9 record and went 7-1 in conference play, only dropping their match against the Spartans. On Thursday, No. 2 Coe swept No. 3 Simpson 3-0. During their regular season match, the Spartans swept the Kohawks 3-0 in Dubuque.
About the Spartans
With Thursday's victory, the Spartans extended their home winning streak to 18 games. Being ranked 18
th nationally, 17
th in NPI, and first in Region IX, the Spartans are set up in a great spot and look to add another A-R-C Tournament Championship to their resume.
About the Kohawks
The Kohawks advanced to the championship by sweeping No. 3 Simpson at home on Thursday evening. Coming into Saturday's match, the Kohawks are 0-4 against nationally ranked opponents.
What's At Stake
With a win, the Spartans would be the first A-R-C team to win the regular season title outright as well as the conference tournament since the Kohawks won both in 2022. Even with a loss, the Spartans are well positioned to receive an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. With a win, the Spartans would finish their season against A-R-C opponents at a perfect 10-0.
