DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football team held a 7-3 at halftime on Saturday, but would tumble to the Coe College Kohawks 19-7 in the Spartans final home game of the 2025 season.
The Spartans out paced the Kohawks by ending the loss with 391 yards of offense compared to 332 for the Kohawks. UD gained 295 yards through the air and 96 yards on the ground. The Spartans defense held Coe in check for most of the game and finished the afternoon with three sacks on third downs. The duo of
Jacob Garlick (14) and
Tristen Villanueva (9) combine for 23 tackles to lead the Spartans. Garlick had 1.5 tackles for losses of eight yards, a sack for a loss oc seven yards, and two quarterback hurries.
Joey Rhomberg completed 40-57 passes for 295 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He led the rushing with 19 attempts for 81 yards.
Isaiah Martinez caught 11 passes for 83 yards and rushed 10 times for 15 yards. The two punters were kept busy with the Spartans
Brady Buchmann punting six times for 230 yards with his longest being for 64 yards and he dropped three inside the Kohawks 20 yard line.
Kaedon Phillips returned two kickoffs for 32 yards,
Kali Freeman returned one kickoff for 17 yards and David Matthews returned one kickoff for 11 yards, and
Etwood Williams returned one interception for no yards.
Bennett Harp kicked off three times for 138 yards for a 46 yard average.
Pato Marvite was a perfect 1-1 in extra points.
The Spartans (3-6 overall, 3-4 in A-R-C) will wrap up their season on the road at Luther College (0-8 overall, 0-6 in A-R-C) on Nov. 8 at 12:00 p.m.. The Spartans off week is the final weekend of American Rivers Conference schedule.
