INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team notched their eighth win of the season after dominating the Simpson College Storm on Friday afternoon by a 6-1 final. The Spartans improved to 4-2 in the American Rivers Conference fighting for a team qualifying spot in the spring tournament.
UD won two out of three of the doubles matches to take the doubles point.
Molly Jex and
Adriana Benavente won the #1 doubles by a 6-1 score.
Jayda Floyd and
Kadia Cole lost the #2 doubles 6-4, and
Sarah Wilde and
Amelia Court won #3 doubles 6-2.
UD won 5-6 singles matches to put the match away.
Molly Jex took the #1 singles 6-3, 6-0; #2 singles
Adriana Benavente won 6-0, 6-4; #3 singles
Jayda Floyd lost her set 6-2, 6-3; #4 singles
Sarah Wilde captured her set 6-2, 6-0; #5 singles
Maddie Brosnahan won 6-3, 7-5; and #6 singles won
Rachel Duck won 6-0, 6-0.
UD will continue their road play on Saturday morning against the Central College Dutch in Pella, Iowa beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Spartans will complete their conference season on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when they host the Coe College Kohawks on Frank Farber Tennis Courts in a re-scheduled match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
