DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's volleyball team celebrated Senior Day with a 3-2 (25-21, 26-28, 23-25, 15-18, 15-12) victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University 13-7, 2-3 A-R-C) on Saturday morning. The #24 Spartans (20-3, 5-0 A-R-C) extended their home winning streak to 24 matches with Saturday's victory.
The Spartans jumped out to an early 13-6 lead in the first set and survived a late Prairiewolves rally to take the first set 25-21. The Prairiewolves controlled the first part of the second set, but the Spartans stormed back, capturing seven of eight points to take a 15-14 lead. The Prairiewolves captured four points in a row to retake a 19-16 lead, but a six-point Spartans run returned the lead to UD 22-19. With the score tied at 23, both teams traded points before the Prairiewolves took the final two to secure a 28-26. The Prairiewolves took their momentum into the third set and took a six-point lead early. Despite a furious comeback attempt by the Spartans, the Prairiewolves led the third set wire-to-wire, taking a 2-1 set lead. Facing elimination, the Spartans sprinted out to a 14-7 lead early and capitalized on errors by Prairiewolves' hitters to take the set 25-18, sending the match to a decisive fifth set. Revitalized by the previous set, the Spartans broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth set with a four-point rally, giving them a lead they wouldn't relinquish. A kill by

Spartans hitters lit up the stat sheet on Saturday, with four players tallying double-digit kills in the five-set affair.
Caitlin Jensen and Cooley both notched ten kills during the match, leading the Spartans with .412 and .389 hitting percentages, respectively.
Ashley Glennon totaled 11 kills and added 19 digs, second on the team.
Delainey Winkel led the Spartans with 18 kills and finished with 15 digs.
Taylor Bechen led the defense with 23 digs. Assisting the offense flurry were
Alexis Kammerer and
Ashlyn McGinnis, who led the Spartans with 27 and 25 assists each.

Saturday's game marks the end of the home regular season for the Spartans with a perfect 9-0 record. The Spartans will return to action on Friday, October 24 with a road non-conference match against North Park University at 7:00 p.m. The Vikings (17-7, 2-3 CCIW) take on the University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon and Millikin University on Wednesday night prior to their match with the #24 Spartans. The Vikings dropped their match with the Prairiewolves 3-1 earlier this season and have dropped two matches against Simpson College in non-conference play.
