DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's wrestling team hosted #25 Luther College Norse in an American Rivers Conference dual meet on Friday evening with the Norse edging out a 23-16 win over the Spartans.

UD grabbed points at 141 lbs. with Devin Murphy earning a 14-7 win for the Spartans first points trailing 9-3 to the Norse. Brett Back at 149 lbs. kept the Spartans rolling with a major decision 11-2 to close the lead 9-7. #14-ranked Zane Pannell captured the win at 174 lbs. by a decision 13-6 with the Spartans trailing in the match 16-10. The Norse led 23-10 entering the 285 lbs. match. The fans were looking forward to a battle of two ranked opponents in the heavy weight. Luther's Walter West ranked #7 would have faced #15 Justin Matson, but with the match in hand, Luther would forfeit at 285 and ending the night with a 23-16 victory over the Spartans.

UD will send some wrestlers over to the Loras College Open on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Spartans next home varsity match will be on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 against #12 Coe College on Senior Night at 7:00 p.m.
