DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team rolled past the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves 74-46 on Wednesday night in the Coaches v. Cancer game.
The Spartans scored the first 12 points tonight and opened the game on a 22-3 run. After the massive run to open the game, the Spartans led by double digits for almost the entirety of the game.
Christina Simonetti scored a career-high 13 points tonight and finished off her first career double-double with 11 rebounds (six offensive).
Mia Miller also recorded her first ever double-double with 12 points and 10 assists (eight in the first half).
Samantha McDonald finished with 11 points, while
Morgan Hawkins and
Madi Petersen each added 10 points.
The Spartans struggled from the perimeter, but was able to shoot 43.5% from the field thanks to 56 points in the paint. The Spartans outscored the Prairie Wolves by 40 in the paint. The Spartans also dominated the glass with 47 rebounds (18 offensive) compared to only 24 for the Prairie Wolves.
The Spartans improve to 8-11 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
