DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's hockey returned to the ice Saturday afternoon for game two against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Spartans were led by freshman forward
Zach Burfoot who led the Spartans with three points on the afternoon which included his first multiple goal game of his career.
The Spartans came out on fire to begin the game as the
Zach Burfoot netted his first of two power play goals on the afternoon at 7:08 of the first period with the assists from
Nikita Borodayenko and
Brock Weimer. Burfoot struck again three minutes later at 10:25 of the first period with Weimer and
Owen Hardy on the assist to give the Spartans a 2-0 after the first period.
After the Raiders scored two goals to even the game up at 2-2 in the second. The Spartans fell behind in the third period as the Raiders took a 4-2 lead halfway through the third period. The Spartans cut the lead down to one as
Owen Hardy logged a goal at 14:47 in the third with the assist from Burfoot and
Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth. The Spartans comeback rally fell short 4-3.
UD netted 29 shots on the afternoon led by Burfoot with five,
Brock Weimer logged four shots, and
Kaden Dundas had three shots. Sophomore
Erik Chaffe returned in goal for the Spartans making 29 saves in 58:07 of ice time.
