DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's soccer team was back in action Tuesday night as they hosted the Lawrence University Vikings. After being out shot the previous outing, the Spartans dominated the shot chart against the Vikings in route to a 1-0 win to improve to a 2-0 this season.
The Spartans were on the offensive end for most of the game and were able to get numerous looks at the goal. As a team, the Spartans took 23 total shots with 12 of them being on goal. Only one goal was needed as sophomore forward
Eddie Papis connected with a right footed shot from the left side of the box to sneak the ball under the Vikings goalkeeper in the bottom right corner to score. The goal was his first of his career in the 31
st minute. Junior midfielder
Mario Meier recorded his first assist of his career on the play. Papis and Meier were accompanied by
Gavin Wooldridge on the shot chart. Wooldridge recorded five total shots, while Papis and Meier had three shots each.
Ayi Enoch Ajavon also tallied three shots for the Spartans. On defense, the Spartans back line was excellent only allowing eight total shots while only one of those shots were on goal.

The Spartans will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota on Saturday September 7. Kickoff from Gustie Soccer Field is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
