Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Keith Keahna

Spartans Defeated by #25 Ranked North Park

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team took the pitch on a very windy Saturday afternoon as they took the #25 ranked North Park University Vikings. This was the first time the Spartans met a nationally ranked opponent this year and they were stride for stride with the Vikings for nearly most of the match. The Spartans for most of this season have been good on the offense attacking zones and that continued today.

In the first half the Spartans handled the wind very well. Each pass for the Spartans was perfect with the wind providing aid for most of the half, as it was at the back of the Spartans. The Spartans saw seven shot attempts in the first half. It remained scoreless for the first 20 minutes of the game until North Park found an opening and took advantage. The Spartans trailed 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half the Spartans once again battled through the windy conditions, this time going headfirst into the wind which would play a factor for both teams. In the 57th minute the Vikings used a counterattack to find the back of the net again and that would be final as the Spartans fall 2-0. The Spartans got off nine second half shots to finish with 16 on the day. Gavin Wooldridge, Josh Aboagye and Zach Floss finished the game was three shots a piece. The Spartans move to 3-3-1 on the season.
