DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis hosted another American Rivers Conference dual on Tuesday afternoon when the Loras College Duhawks found their way to the Frank Farber Tennis Courts. UD lost the league match by a 2-5 margin.
The Spartans captured the #2 doubles match with the duo of
Molly Jex and
Adriana Benavente who won by a 6-3 score. The Spartans #1 doubles team of
Sarah Wilde and
Jayda Floyd lost 2-6 and the #3 doubles of
Breann Kieliszewski and
Kadia Cole lost 4-6 to hand over the doubles point to the visiting Duhawks.
UD won two singles matches which were won by the winning doubles team.
Molly Jex battled through a tie break to capture the #2 singles by a 6-1, 7-6 (6-5) score. Her doubles partner
Adriana Benavente playing at #3 singles won 6-3, 7-5. Benavente trailed in the second set, before settling down and rallying back for the match win.
The Spartans hit the road over the weekend when they travel to Appleton, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they play UW-Stout at 12:00 p.m. and Lawrence University at 3:00 p.m.
