DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer was in action Tuesday night from Oyen Field as they welcomed the Buccaneers from Beloit College. The Spartans made crucial plays down the stretch including two huge goals to force a draw.
The first half saw a lot of defense as the Spartans had numerous amounts of pass deflections and stolen balls as the Spartan defense locked down Beloit to zero shots in the first half of play. Action picked up in the second half as the Spartans began to get into the box and had a good number of chances to find the back of the net. After allowing two goals in succession, the Spartan comeback was on after
Virginia Speltz found the bottom right of the net off a cross pass from freshman
Kyla Seifert to pull the score within 2-1. Seven minutes later, the Spartans were on the attack again as another
Kyla Seifert pass found the right foot of
Emma Kober who put in the middle of the goal off the hands of the Beloit goalkeeper to tie the game at 2-2. After more stops on defense, and a few more shot attempts, the game ended in a 2-2 draw and the Spartans are now 3-1-2 on the season.
