Aboagye Scores Twice to Force Tie With St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The University of Dubuque men's soccer team hit the road Wednesday night as they took on the St. Norbert College Green Knights. The Spartans struggled early in this game to get into a groove as most of the game was a defensive battle. Both teams struggled to a high number of shots off but it was a scoring frenzy in the final 25 minutes as both teams scored twice in that time span.

In the first half, the Spartans struggled to get any offense production as they were out-shot eight to zero by the Green Knights. A similar trend happened in the second half as both teams were struggling to get going again. The Green Knights found the back of net twice in the span of less than 30 seconds and the Spartans suddenly found themselves down 2-0 in the blink of an eye. In the 87th minute the Spartans were doing everything they could to get something positive going when Josh Aboagye found the back of the net off a pass from Lukas Sandanger to cut the lead down to 2-1. After getting the ball back quickly the Spartans attacked once again as a Giorgos Vallianatos pass found Aboagye again and he was able to get another goal for the Spartans to equalize the game. Both those goals occured within the span of less than two minute of game time. Aboagye's effort was enough to force a tie with the Green Knights and have a bring some momentum moving forward into the season. The Spartans now move to 2-1-1 on the season.
