DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis continued their 2024-25 season on Sunday, September 1 in nearly ideal conditions on the Labor Day weekend in front of the largest crowd of the season when they hosted the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Pointers on the Frank Farber Tennis Courts.
The Spartans were swept in doubles action, but UD's freshman at #3 singles,
Molly Jex, captured the team's only point in the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Jayda Floyd at #4 singles won the first set 6-3, lost the second set 4-6 and lost the match in a tie break 6-10.
Breann Kieliszewski at #5 singles lost her first set 6-7 (5-7 in tie break) and lost the second set 0-6. A new change this season is the scoring, last year all matches were worth a point in the nine point matches, this year the team who wins 2-3 doubles matches will get one point in the seven point matches.
The Spartans (1-1 overall) will host the Luther College Norse on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 4:00 p.m. at Frank Farber Tennis Courts before making the journey to St. Ambrose University on Monday, Sept. 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Davenport, Iowa.
