DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team started their American Rivers Conference schedule on Saturday against the league coaches pre-season favorite pick, the Luther College Norse on Frank Farber Tennis Courts. The Norse won the match 7-0 and remain unbeaten this season.
The Spartans were edged out in all three doubles matches by a 1-6 score. In singles play, UD's
Molly Jex at #2 singles lost the opening set 2-6, rallied to win the second set 6-3, but lost the tie break by a 3-10 margin.
Sarah Wilde at #1 singles lost 2-6, 1-6,
Adriana Benavente lost 4-6, 0-6 at #3 singles,
Breann Kieliszewski lost #4 singles 2-6, 1-6,
Jayda Floyd lost #5 singles 1-6, 2-6, and
Amelia Court lost #6 singles 0-6, 1-6.
The Spartans begin a three game road trip as they travel to Davenport, Iowa to play the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees on Monday, Sept. 9 at Davenport West High School at 4:00 p.m. UD continues their road schedule on Friday, Sept. 13 when they play Greenville University at 9:00 a.m. and Anderson University (Ind.) at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Scott J. Burgess Tennis Comples in Greenville, Ill.
