Spartans Fall in MLC Championship Game, Concludes Season at 10-7

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The #2 seeded University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team fell to the #1 seed Lake Forest College Foresters in the 2024 Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament Championship game 11-4 as they concluded their season with a 10-7 record. 

The Spartans got off to a great start on the road this afternoon, scoring the first two goals of the game courtesy of Giovanni Silva and Aidan Culligan in the first 1:39 of playing time to lead 2-0. Lake Forest would score the next six goals throughout the remainder of the first half to lead by four over the Spartans at the half. 

Tyler Johnson scored a man-up goal right away for the Spartans to open the second half, but Lake Forest continuing to add on to their lead with two more goals to lead by five with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. The final goal of the game for the Spartans was from Sam Todd to open the fourth quarter, but yet again Lake Forest scored three more goals and would win by a final of 11-4 over the Spartans. 

Nolan Nagy was in goal for the Spartans and was able to secure 14 saves. The Spartans won 10 faceoffs out of the 18 total in the game and both teams finished 1-4 on extra-man opportunities. 

The Spartans conclude the 2024 season at 10-7 and with this being the final MLC Championship game, the Spartans will be headed to the NACC starting next year in the 2025 season.
