WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team played a doubleheader on the road against the Wartburg College Knights. The Spartans battled in both games, but fell on the losing end today as they dropped game one 4-6 and then 2-6 in game two.
Game 1
Game one was decided by the second inning as the Knights put up six runs in the inning to get the early lead. The Spartans did not get a run home until the sixth inning as
Katie Hayes drove in a run and then the following inning
Bailey Ford doubled to right center followed by a
Chloe Hild homerun over the left field fence. The Spartans comeback bid would fall just short as they were unable to plate anymore runs in the seventh.
Game 2
The Spartans trailed early in game two after the Knights scored twice in the second inning ans then a lone run in the third to lead 0-3. The Spartans worked to create a comeback starting in the sixth inning as
Grace Stevenson singled to left field, but a throwing error by the Knights scored the first run for the Spartans. Hayes recorded an RBI single in the inning to cut the Knights lead to 2-4. The Knights answered in the bottom of the frame with two runs defeating the Spartans 2-6.

- Hild two run homerun in the sixth inning of game one
- Powell 2-4 at the plate in game two
The Spartans move to 6-11 overall on the season.
