Men's Lacrosse Wins Regular Season Finale, Earns #2 Seed in MLC Tournament

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team finished off the regular season with a 16-6 conference victory over the Cornell College Rams on Sunday afternoon at Oyen Field. 

After over a two hour lightning delay last night that resulted the game being postponed until today, the Spartans were able to take care of the Cornell College Rams on Senior Day. The Spartans celebrated the careers of Addy Roberts (Team Manager), Beau Koenig, Kyle Hephner, Cale Baumgartner, and Ben Warren

The Spartans scored the first 10 goals of the game in the first half and led 10-1 at the half. Aidan Culligan scored the first two goals of the game over a 16 second span and had four goals and an assist by halftime. The Spartans led by as many as 12 in te second half before winning by 10 goals. 

Sam Todd finished with seven points on three goals and four assists while Giovanni Silva added a pair of goals and assists this afternoon. Joe Cressy, John Davis, Ethan Smith, scored their first collegiate goals of their careers while Ben Warren scored his first goal of the season and Eric Brostek had his first career assist. 

Ryan Doyle tied the most caused turnovers in a single game this season with eight caused turnovers. Doyle also picked up six ground balls. Quentin Evans finished with four caused turnovers. 

The Spartans finish the regular season 9-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play to earn the #2 seed in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament.

The #2 seeded Spartans will host the #3 seeded University of Northwestern (MN) at Oyen Field on Wednesday, May 1 at a time to be determined.
