INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's tennis team won on the road over the Simpson College Storm on Saturday by a 5-4 final.
The Spartans #1 doubles team of Pedwar Castillo/Ryan Kiddle lost 8-5. The Spartans would rebound to capture the #2 and #3 doubles. The #2 doubles team of Dawson Freese/Ryan Linkie won 8-7 after capturing the tie break 7-3. The #3 doubles team of Elia Desario/Alexander Hardin won by a forfeit.
In singles, #1 Pedwar Castillo lost in a tie break set 6-3, 2-6 and 10-7. Ryan Linkie lost #2 singles 6-4, 6-2. Alexander Hardin lost the #3 singles 6-3, 6-0. The Spartans would grab all three matches in the bottom of the line-up at singles.Ryan Kiddle won 6-0, 6-0 at #4 singles. Elia Desario won the #5 singles 6-1, 6-0, and Dawson Freese won #6 by a forfeit.
Tuesday, April 23, the Spartans will begin a home stand on Frank Farber Tennis Courts as they host the Wartburg College Knights at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, UD will host the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves at 4:00 p.m. The final regular season meet will be on Friday, April 26, when the Buena Vista University Beavers travel to Dubuque on Senior Day.
The American Rivers Conference Team Tournament begins on Tuesday, April 30.
