DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team welcomed the #24 ranked Central College Dutch to the UD Softball Field for a two-game doubleheader. The Spartans would fall in both games losing the opener in five innings 5-15 and then the second game with a final score of 2-10.
Bella Allison and
Bailey Ford contributed in big ways in game one for the Spartans as both recorded two hits in the game and Ford was a perfect 2-2 at the plate and drove in two of the five Spartans runs.
Kayleen Sebo got the start on the mound in game one and
Ally Gullette pitched in relief.
The Spartans only recorded three hits in game two as
Kaitlyn Powell,
Katie Hayes, and
Chloe Hild each recorded a hit. Hild got the first hit of the game for the Spartans with an RBI double to left center field in the fourth inning. Hayes also had an RBI double in the sixth inning.
Jaelyn Blakemore started game two and pitched the full seven innings.
The Spartans move to 6-19 overall on the season.
