CLERMONT, Fla. – The University of Dubuque Spartans softball team continued their 10-game spring break trip with another doubleheader. The Spartans won their first game against Russell Sage College Gators 6-4 before losing to Benedictine University Eagles 11-2.

Through the first inning of play the Spartans found themselves down 1-0. Quickly the Spartans responded with a run in the second inning despite recording no hits. In the third inning, the Spartans platted five runs as the offense exploded for seven hits. All five runs were driven in on RBI singles off the bats of Grace Stevenson, Bella Como, Chloe Hild, Ford, and Bella Allison. The five run cushion was enough as Jaelyn Blakemore and Ciaran Rigby as they kept the Gators bats in check securing a 6-4 victory.

Blakemore got the start and tossed three innings off two run ball while striking out three. Rigby entered in relief and finished the game with seven punch outs in four innings to earn the win.
