Women's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Four with 77-53 Win Over Beavers

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team has now extended their winning streak to four games after a dominating 77-53 win against the Buena Vista University Beavers on the road. 

The Spartans raced out to an early 11-0 lead and did not give up a basket until 5:58 remaining in the first quarter. The Spartans went on a 7-0 run after the first Beavers basket to lead 19-2 not even six minutes into the game. The Spartans would finish the quarter up 23-6. The second quarter was closer between the two teams, but the Spartans were able to lead by as many as 21 into the halftime break. The Beavers got back to within 17, but the Spartans ended the third quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 60-36. The largest lead of the afternoon came late in the game with the Spartans leading 76-48 with 1:41 to go. 

Isabella Tierney had a team-high 14 points that included 3-5 from beyond the arc. Tabria Thomas scored 12 points and Samantha McDonald came off the bench to score 13 points in 14 minutes of action. Madi Peterson had six rebounds to lead the Spartans and Karsen Kershner along with Megan Teal added five rebounds apiece. 

Today marked the 107th game played for Tabria Thomas which is the most all-time by any University of Dubuque women's basketball player in school history. 

The Spartans are now 14-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

The Spartans will travel to #11 Wartburg College on Wednesday night with tip at 5:30 p.m. The last time the Spartans played the Knights, they nearly pulled off the upset inside Stoltz Sports Center.
