CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The #19 ranked University of Dubuque men's wrestling team fought a tough #5 ranked Coe College Kohawk team on Thursday night and would fall short by a 17-24 final score in the dual.

UD opened with a win by #3 ranked Brady Koontz (125 lbs.), who won by a major decision over former Spartan Cade Hornbeck 12-1. Darian Diaz put the Spartans back in the lead 7-5 at 141 lbs. when he edged out a tight 12-10 final score. Kale Roth put the Spartans ahead at 157 lbs. by a 11-9 score in the match when he claimed a major decision 11-3. Coe would capture the upper weight classes with four ranked wrestlers before Justin Matson collected the injury default late in the match over #8 Damari Dancy at 285 lbs.

The Spartans will host UD Invite in Stoltz Sports Center on Sunday, Feb. 18 with around 80 competitors beginning at 1:00 p.m. UD will host another invite on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 12:00 p.m. before wrapping up their American Rivers Conference schedule on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they host the Simpson College Storm in a dual meet beginning at 7:00 p.m.
