FOND DU LAC, Wis. = The University of Dubuque men's hockey team was on the road Friday night to conclude the weekend series against the Marian University Sabres. The game was a back-and-forth affair as the Spartans netted three goals including one on the power play, however, the Spartans fell short to the Sabres 5-3.

The Spartans netted three goals on the night. The first came at 8:17 left of the first period as
Max Erstad scored his second goal of the season and second of the weekend with the assist by
Chase Cooke. The Spartans carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The Spartans second goal came on the power play as
Nikita Borodayenko scored his second goal of the season as
Makism Lakic and
Layten Liffrig earned the assist. The final goal for the Spartans came from
Zach Burfoot 12:38 left in the second period. The Spartans went into the second period tied 3-3. The Spartans did not score again as she Sabres defeated the Spartans 5-3.

As a team, the Spartans had 35 shots outshooting the Sabres who had 32 shots. The Spartans also won 38 of 72 faceoffs for a win percentage of 52.7 percent and saw seven blocked shots. Goalie
Ryan Piros made 27 saves on the night and played 58:55 of gametime.
