DUBUQUE, Iowa - The #2 seeded University of Dubuque volleyball team dominated the #5 seeded Wartburg College Knights in the 2024 American Rivers Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday night in three straight sets 25-13, 25-23, and 25-14. The Spartans earned the NCAA Division III automatic bid by winning the leagues tournament and will find out their fate on Monday, Nov. 18 at noon Central Time when the NCAA announces the volleyball bracket

The large crowd on hand for the tournament championship witnessed a battle with 16 ties and eight lead changes. UD jumped out quickly and led in the first set. The Spartans fell behind in set two and would rally late to capture the set and go up 2-0 on the Knights. UD would surge in the third set and capture the match in the loudest cheering of the season in Stoltz Sports Center on Jon Davison Court.

Emma Powell led the offense with 10 kills, Payton Uptagraft had six kills, Caitlin Jensen and Delainey Winkel each finished with five kills each. The Spartans hit .175 and held the Knights to .026 in the loss. Alexis Kammerer assisted in 15 kills and Ashlyn McGinnis ended with 12 set assists. UD collected eight service aces with Winkel leading the team with three. The Spartans compiled 63 defensive digs and Taylor Bechen leading a trio of double digit digs with 18. Teammates Powell had 17 digs and Winkel 12 digs.

UD improved to 22-9 overall (6-2 in A-R-C, 2nd place)

The bracket will be revealed during a selection show at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, Nov. 18, streamed here on NCAA.com. This year's 64-team tournament begins with regionals on Thursday, Nov. 21. The final eight teams will battle for the championship from Dec. 4-7 at the Cregger Center in Salem, Virginia.
