DUBUQUE, Iowa - After receiving a first round bye in the 2024 American Rivers Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament, the No. 2 seed University of Dubuque Spartans volleyball team is set to host the No. 3 seed Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. from the Stoltz Sports Center.
After a 6-2 conference record in 2024, the Spartans are entering their 17th A-R-C Tournament in program history. The Spartans have been in the A-R-C Semifinals every year since 2017 (excluding 2020, Covid-19) and won back-to-back A-R-C Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019.
The Spartans opponent, Nebraska Wesleyan University, defeated Loras College on Tuesday night 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 25-16) in the first round in Lincoln, Neb. In the regular season the Spartans traveled out to Lincoln back on November 1 where the Spartans swept the Prairie Wolves 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-17). The Spartans have won seven consecutive matches against the Praire Wolves with their last loss back in 2016. This will be the first ever matchup between both teams in the A-R-C Tournament.
The other A-R-C Tournament semifinal matchup will be between No. 1 Coe College and No. 5 Wartburg College. Wartburg beat Coe in the regular season, giving the Kohawks their lone conference loss on the season.
The winners of both games will play for the A-R-C Tournament Championship game on Saturday, November 16 at the higher remaining seed. Time will be determined after the conclusion of the semifinal matches.
