Men's Soccer Rally Falls Short to Kohawks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team tried to use a late rally on the road against the Coe College Kohawks, but would come up just short in a one goal loss on Wednesday night.

The Kohawks led 1-0 at the half after scoring in the 25th minute. The Kohawks would later extend their lead to two 23 minutes into the second half. Shortly after the Kohawks went up by two goals, a Kohawk would fall down with the ball and Baraka Madumba was able to steal the ball and find a streaking Gavin Wooldridge. Wooldridge then proceeded to get a shot off past the goal keeper to give the Spartans life with less than 20 minutes remaining. Wooldridge recorded his second goal of the season and 11th of his career.

The Spartans got two more chances to get the equalizer with the best chance coming with just over three minutes remaining. Zach Floss got off a shot to the bottom left corner of the goal, but the Kohawk keeper made the save.

Matt Marchiori faced 11 shots and was able to record three saves. The Spartans had the corner kick advantage 6-4.

The Spartans move to 4-7-1 overall on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
